Study: Genetic connectivity of the Atlantic Chupare stingray (Styracura schmardae)
show Abstracthide Abstract
Genetic population structure and connectivity information is vital to conservation efforts for endangered species. Despite its IUCN Red List Endangered status, no previous research has examined genetic structure and connectivity in S. schmardae. The complexity of marine habitats across the islands of The Bahamas provide an ideal background within which to explore fine geographical scale population connectivity in this understudied species. Results from this study will inform regional conservation plans.
